A few of my favorites from Hyon and Teresa’s wedding below in Golden, Colorado.

A great capture by my second photographer, Austin, of Hyon waiting to see his bride for the first time…
A beautiful image of the first look from Austin, below.

A glimpse of the beaming bride during the ceremony.

Lookout Mountain has a lot of special memories for Teresa and Hyon. It was the first place he first told her he loved her and also the place where he proposed. So, it was only fitting to take a ride up to Lookout and take some images from there.

Teresa’s father got a classically beautiful Rolls Royce for the newlyweds to enjoy after the ceremony.

Teresa, you are simply stunning.
A few favorites from inside the Rolls Royce.
En route to the reception venue…
The moment before the toss. I love this image! In honor of Hyon’s family and heritage, Teresa and Hyon changed into the traditional Korean wedding attire, hanbok, for the second half of the reception. The bright colors are a change from the traditional white dresses, but I think they are so beautiful in its own distinctive way and backed by years of tradition.

There’s no better way to end a fun night of festivities than with a good Robot…

When I got married 4 years ago, I went to Michaels and, without much thought, just got a traditional guestbook that had some lines for people to sign their name. Honestly, at that time, the guestbook was the last thing on my mind amidst all the other wedding details. And in all honesty, I haven’t looked at that guestbook in a while. It was this experience that made me want to include a personalized photo guestbook in all my wedding packages for my clients. It serves so many purposes and I am all about efficiency. First off, the guestbook album is a great way to compile the engagement photos, which is also included in all my packages. I think the engagement session is invaluable in getting to know the couple and getting the couple comfortable with me and my camera. Secondly, the guestbook album allows loved ones to memorialize their wishes for the new couple through funny and touching messages. Thirdly, the combination of the photos and the comments from loved ones makes it fun to look through for years to come.
All albums, including the guest book album, are published through one of the finest album companies, Leather Craftsman. I love the clean, modern and classic look of the album, which is accompanied by the highest quality papers, covers and creases to ensure lifelong durability. Below are images from Hyon and Teresa’s guestbook album.

Lots of clean, white space for signatures and notes from the guests….
Below are the pages from the album. It’s amazing how putting the images together naturally creates a story…

My favorite page from the album, below:

As a way to push my photographic creativity, I had been looking for an opportunity to second shoot a wedding and I was fortunate to connect with Laura of Laura Murray Photography and assist her on a wedding at the Denver Hyatt. The couple was surrounded by 13 bridesmaids and 13 groomsmen who filled the day with laughter, chatter amongst good friends and lots of love. The bride also did a great job of incorporating an elegant rainbow color scheme throughout the wedding.
I had been a second photographer when I first started photographing weddings, but then started photographing solo and have since grown to love the intimacy of it being just my creativity, my camera and the couple. For me, a huge part of any photo session is getting the couple to feel comfortable with me to just be who they are as individuals and as a couple. However, within the past few months, I got an itch to second shoot to challenge my creativity. As was the case with this Denver Hyatt wedding, second shooting allowed me to view everything from a completely different angle and non-obvious perspectives – and this is exactly the direction I hope my photography will grow into. Second shooting reminds me how fun and exhilarating it is to photograph fearlessly and creatively. To not feel obliged to get the same “cookie cutter” photograph for the couple, which is usually not truly reflective of that moment anyway. So, as I excitedly move into 2011, I will hold on to this feeling and this lesson and see where it takes me and my photos….

A little fun with the garter toss and a sweet moment during the father-daughter dance:

As you may have seen in my previous blog post, I got this idea to include an inspiration board with each wedding and highlight the theme of that wedding with some eye candy that I like. Here is the inspiration board for a rainbow themed wedding:
