Denver Hyatt Wedding – Rainbow Love

As a way to push my photographic creativity, I had been looking for an opportunity to second shoot a wedding and I was fortunate to connect with Laura of Laura Murray Photography and assist her on a wedding at the Denver Hyatt.   The couple was surrounded by 13 bridesmaids and 13 groomsmen who filled the day with laughter, chatter amongst good friends and lots of love.  The bride also did a great job of incorporating an elegant rainbow color scheme throughout the wedding.

I had been a second photographer when I first started photographing weddings, but then started photographing solo and have since grown to love the intimacy of it being just my creativity, my camera and the couple.  For me, a huge part of any photo session is getting the couple to feel comfortable with me to just be who they are as individuals and as a couple.   However, within the past few months, I got an itch to second shoot to challenge my creativity.  As was the case with this Denver Hyatt wedding, second shooting allowed me to view everything from a completely different angle and non-obvious perspectives – and this is exactly the direction I hope my photography will grow into.  Second shooting reminds me how fun and exhilarating it is to photograph fearlessly and creatively.  To not feel obliged to get the same “cookie cutter” photograph for the couple, which is usually not truly reflective of that moment anyway.  So, as I excitedly  move into 2011, I will hold on to this feeling and this lesson and see where it takes me and my photos….

As you may have seen in my previous blog post, I got this idea to include an inspiration board with each wedding and highlight the theme of that wedding with some eye candy that I like.  Here is the inspiration board for a rainbow themed wedding:

June 24, 2011 - 7:26 am Denver wedding photographers - Love the colors! Love the concepts! What else can I say? Love every photo in this post.

March 3, 2011 - 5:49 pm Weddingish - Andrea, these photos are absolutely exquisite! Being a second shooting, I agree, is very exciting. I'm not a wedding phtoographer, but I have a deep love of photography and whenever everybody is getting together for a photo op, for example, I always shoot with my camera from the side. Some of my favorite photos are shot this way. Can't wait to see more weddings. :)

February 28, 2011 - 1:31 pm Brooke - Andrea, love the photos! Sometimes it's fun to just get back to what originally brought you into photography to begin with - the love of capturing those moments! Excellent work. :)
