Jennifer and John are a couple that reminds me oh so clearly that my wedding photography is about more than just taking photos. For me, it’s about taking this amazing opportunity to photograph and challenge myself and push the boundaries that I know about myself. I was completely inspired at seeing how understanding and flexible Jennifer and John are with those around them. In a day that could be stressful, Jennifer and John were so grateful and kind with family, friends and all the vendors there, just graciously soaking in all moments of the day. Jennifer and John, thank you for reminding me to be kinder and understanding to those I encounter in my daily life. If Jennifer and John look familiar, you may remember them from their engagement session last year.
Jennifer and John creatively put together some of their favorite things to create a beautiful wedding that reflected who they are. Jennifer was beautiful in her grandmother’s 80 year old wedding dress and headpiece from the 1930s. You could just imagine all the charm and personality of the grandmother by looking at that dress. The ribbons in Jennifer’s bouquet was also from her grandmother’s wedding. I’ve seen brides incorporate fabrics from past weddings, but Jennifer decided not to do any alterations to the original dress and it was beautiful. One of my favorite images from the day, below:

They also incorporated some beautiful Celtic and green elements, including a bagpipe player to call the guests to the wedding ceremony. I am a huge fan of men’s accessories, so was completely thrilled about the simple black and white groomsmen outfits with the suspenders and with John’s hat.
I love the image below of the groom and his men waiting to walk down the aisle:

Jennifer switched into a beautiful contemporary wedding dress for the reception.

I’m excited to announce that I will be starting a new tradition on my blog which will feature an inspiration board for all of my weddings. I love all the creativity of my couples, so want to build off of that to inspire other brides. I’m realizing that creating pretty inspiration boards is a skill in and of itself, but here is my first attempt at it. Without further ado, below is the first inspiration board inspired by Jennifer and John’s wedding with inspiration from the 1930′s as well as a green celtic theme.
