I must admit that I am not a morning person and it’s been a l0000ng time since I woke up earlier than 6:30AM or saw the sun rise. I had heard that the lighting around sunrise provides a great soft light for photography and does not have the orange-ish tint that a sunset can have, so was excited to try out a morning/sunrise photo session. However, I failed to realize a seemingly obvious factor…it is really cold at that time. It reminded me of the frigid mornings when I go camping in the Colorado mountains. No matter how warm it is in the daytime, the coldest part of the camping trip is in the early morning hours and you can find me rolled up in a tight ball, covering my entire head and body with my sleeping bag, with my socks on, awake from the cold. The cold weather made my subjects’ faces pink during the photo session, but all turned out well with a little help from Lightroom during post processing.
My photo session was with Kara of Starz Selection, a Denver based business who makes beautiful hairpieces (for bridal/wedding and other special occassions). Her hairpieces can be found on Etsy and in various boutique shops throughout Denver and around the world. Kara definitely has a talent for making these hairpieces beautiful…if you told me to take some fabric and feathers and make a hairpiece, it would look like something a second grader made (no offense to second graders).
The wonderful male model in the photos is Kara’s husband…thanks for being such a great model! The photos were taken near Chautauqua Park in Boulder, Colorado.

To end, below are two photos from Austin. I especially love the last photo of their profile. Have a great day!
